"Accelerating
Results: A New Dual-Operating Model to
Accelerate Strategy Implementation"
We will present a new,
dual-operating organizational model for accelerating
strategy implementation, based on the work of Dr. John
Kotter and the engagement team at Kotter International. This
dual-operating model is a revolutionary structure for
organizations needing to adapt quickly to an increasing
amount of external change. It consists of the hierarchy - a
traditional management model, and the network - a system of
teams with representatives from all divisions and all levels
of an organization, working in tandem. It was discovered by
applying Kotter's 8-Step Process for Leading Change in
organizations that were experiencing large-scale change. The
majority of the materials presented are new and do not
appear in any of Dr. Kotter's past books. We will also walk
through a case study based on Kotter International client
NetApp, a global technology provider of storage devices and
services. In 2009 NetApp faced significant challenges
brought on by external change. Working with Kotter
International, the company employed the dual-operating model
to accelerate implementation of its key strategic
imperatives and achieve dramatic performance results.
Co-presenter Jeff Giannetti of NetApp, who was instrumental
to the company's transformation and implementation of the
new operating model, will provide the corporate perspective
on the model's effectiveness.
