"People Readiness: TD Bank's Journey from Checklist to Full Scale Change Management"

Twelve years ago, TD launched a Project Management Life Cycle designed to improve the implementation of new processes and technology. Like many organizations, the concept of "readiness" was introduced at the same time. No one can recall their original intent, but Readiness Sessions soon became checklist-driven de facto approvals to go forth and implement change. Training plan? Check. Testing plan? Check. Communications plan? Check. The means to truly assess people's readiness to receive change? Completely off the radar.

Then, in 2010, a new enterprise project management governance framework was approved by TD's most senior executives. This opened the door for us to question how we were approaching "readiness". More importantly, we received sponsorship at the highest levels of our organization to make fundamental and lasting change.

During this 90 minute presentation and discussion, you will learn how TD ushered in a new focus on the people side of change. By formally embedding change management into our existing Project Management Life Cycle, we're on a journey to revolutionize the way the project community, indeed the entire enterprise, views change management.

Key Takeaways:

  1. How & why TD redefined Readiness to focus on the adoption and sustainment of change

  2. How TD embedded Organizational Change Management into the project life cycle

  3. How building momentum & cost benefit analysis lead to dedicated change management roles at TD

  4. How Change Management communities are creating strong change partnerships across the organization.
