"Building Organizational Capacity for
Change: The Competitive Advantage of Resiliency"
An organization's ability to flex, adapt and maintain its
effectiveness during times of change is profoundly linked to
their very survival and growth. Resilience, at the
organizational level, is the capacity to identify indicators
of change or disruption, planned or unplanned, and react
swiftly and appropriately at the individual and systems
level to adjust, adapt and create new competencies while
preserving organizational continuity.
This session introduces the mindset and skills necessary to
build organizational resilience and the significant role
leaders play in developing, demonstrating and
institutionalizing resilience as a core competency. The
concepts and impact of systemic resilience will be
illustrated through the progression and development of
resilience in a client organization.
Participants will complete a checklist to evaluate their
organizations' resiliency and use that as a tool to apply
and extend the concepts to their work.

has over 20 years of experience and proven results in
assessment, design, implementation and management of
organizational development strategies, culture change and
re-alignment, change management, and leadership development.
By building supportive relationships and collaborative
teams, Dr. Harwood engages the entire organization so
employees at all levels experience a positive culture shift.
She plans and executes change and transition strategies at
organizational and personal levels that increase
adaptability, resilience, action, and effectiveness to
integrate change deep in the organization. Her track record
in designing and implementing sustainable large scale change
for federal and state entities, healthcare and private
sector clients, includes National Aeronautics and Space
