"Leading Global Transformational Change: Do You Have the Sponsorship to Cross the Abyss?"

Transformational change is change on steroids. Transformation means "doing different things differently" - but many leaders are undertaking transformational change as a core strategy, without understanding what actions are required from themselves as sponsors. The transformation will only achieve its objectives if there is a cascading network of sponsors at each organization level aligned to express, model, and reinforce their individual and collective commitment to the transformation. This is particularly challenging in a global organization with multiple sponsors and cultural differences.

In this fast-paced session, Don Harrison will discuss why transformational change is different, and how sponsors directly impact the speed of change by their own behavior. Harrison will share the metrics for transformational change, the role of culture, and how reinforcements must change if the transformation is going to be successful. Participants will leave with specific actions they can take in their own organization to improve the likelihood of success.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Explain what transformational change is, and how it is different from other types of changes

  2. Identify three specific actions that are required from sponsors for success

  3. Explain how culture impacts transformational change

  4. Identify tips for reinforcing the behavior changes required for transformational change
