"Soft Skills: The Harder
Side of Change Management"
Soft Skills, or otherwise
known as People Skills, are critical for sustaining change.
As change managers we are often required to help our
sponsors and project teams effectively communicate,
facilitate, negotiate, manage conflict, and motivate, to
just name a few. But when was the last time we each stopped
and looked at own individual soft skill repertoire? How easy
are we to deal with? Do we hear the hidden message? How
often do we really take note of someone's body language? Are
we emotionally intelligent? Do we manage our own teams well?
Over 60% of the skills required to become a good change
manager involve a range of soft skills in order to integrate
change successfully into an organisation. The acquisition of
such skills requires an individual behaviour modification to
one extent or another. It requires constant feedback,
maintenance and attention ñ something of which we can often
put aside when focusing on our day-to-day work.
In the setting of a fun and interactive workshop,
participants will have a chance to re-connect with some of
the core soft skills required to plant the seeds of change,
nurture it to full growth, and ensure it continues to renew
itself for generations to come!
