Effective July 2011 Washington, DC, United States of America
The Association of Change Management Professionals ("ACMP") has developed this policy statement ("Privacy Policy") to assist end users ("you" or "User") in understanding the personally identifiable information ("PII") collection, use, and dissemination practices for ACMP's United States Web site(s) (collectively, the "ACMP Website"). PII includes information that can be linked to a specific individual, such as a name, address, phone number, or e-mail address. ACMP reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. If ACMP makes changes to this Privacy Policy, ACMP will post those changes at this location and provide notice of any material changes so that you are aware of what information ACMP collects, how ACMP uses it, and under what circumstances, if any, ACMP disseminates it. Please review this Privacy Policy on a periodic basis.
What Information Does ACMP Collect?
The type of PII collected by ACMP will vary with your use of the ACMP Website. ACMP gathers most information during the registration processes ACMP utilizes to facilitate membership or participation or otherwise allow access to or use of certain information, tools, or features. But, ACMP may collect PII at other times, including, but not limited to, when you report a problem with the ACMP Website, when you complete survey forms, enter into a transaction through the ACMP Website, and when you request to receive a communication(s) from ACMP. Below, ACMP provides specific examples of the types of PII that ACMP may collect through the ACMP Website.
Personal Information: ACMP may request or require your name, employer, employment title or industry, or date of birth.
Contact Information: ACMP may request or require contact information, such as your address, phone number, facsimile number, and e-mail address.
Financial Information: ACMP may request or require credit or debit card account information.
Demographic Information: ACMP may collect demographic and profile data at the ACMP website as a part of its surveys, advertisements, and/or for management and monitoring purposes in order to continue to improve the ACMP website and the quality of ACMP'S on-line services.
Technical Information: ACMP may collect Internet Protocol (IP) addresses from all Users of the ACMP website as well as the date and time of access and the Web page(s) accessed. ACMP may also catalog your log-in information and your computer, browser, or operating system information and may maintain a database of aggregated information about the transactions on the ACMP website (e.g., tool or feature utilization).
How Does ACMP Use that Information?
Most of the ACMP website is informational in nature and publicly available to all Users. Consequently, until you log in as a member, participate in surveys, programs, or events, or register for membership or networking with or request information from ACMP, you are able to browse the ACMP website without providing any PII, although your browser may tell us what type of computer and operating system you are using as well as other kinds of technical information. Below, ACMP sets forth more detail on how ACMP uses your PII.
Personal and Contact Information: ACMP may use your personal and contact information to facilitate the career, community, networking, or donation capabilities of the ACMP website, advertise its services and the goods and services of third parties, create a personalized experience for you, provide you with news and information, contact you regarding a survey, get in touch with you when necessary with respect to transactions conducted through the ACMP website, material changes in the ACMP website’s policies and agreements, new products, tools, or services ACMP may offer, or otherwise. ACMP may also share your contact information with ACMP's charters, affiliates, members, or business partners, as is necessary to provide ACMP's services and information, for advertising purposes, to facilitate transactions through the Site, including, without limitation, registration for events, or for internal business purposes. In addition, ACMP may supplement the PII collected from you with information from other sources, such as from business partners, in order to enhance ACMP's ability to provide or advertise its services or those of other entities or to otherwise tailor, manage, or operate the Site. Except for sharing arrangements with ACMP's charters, affiliates, members, or business partners, however, ACMP does not share your individual PII with other types of third parties for any other purpose, except to a court or governmental agency if required by law.
Financial Information: ACMP may use credit or debit card information to process payments for programs, events, products, or services on the Site, donations, or to facilitate membership application or renewal.
Demographic Information: ACMP may share demographic data on an aggregated basis, which will not identify any particular User, with ACMP's business charters, members, partners and affiliates and for advertising or other technical or business purposes.
Survey Results: ACMP may share survey results collected through the ACMP website with its business partners, charters, members, and affiliates and/or the general public, the news media, and with the U.S. Government and state governments, not only for business or marketing purposes or as may be required by law, but also to participate in government programs and initiatives.
Technical Information: ACMP may use technical information to help diagnose problems with ACMP's servers, analyze ACMP website usage trends, track User movements on the ACMP Website, and to otherwise manage and monitor the ACMP website.
Business Transactions: In the event that ACMP goes through a business transaction, such as a merger or acquisition by another entity involving the sale of all or a portion of its assets, please note that the PII collected and retained by ACMP may be among the assets transferred. In the event a transaction of this kind occurs that results in the transfer of PII, ACMP will notify you via e-mail and/or place a prominent notice on the ACMP website for 30 days of any such change in ownership or control and the possible changes to this Privacy Policy.
Legal Action: ACMP may disclose PII when legally required to do so in accordance with government requests or regulations or legal proceedings. ACMP may also disclose PII to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the ACMP website or as is otherwise required to limit legal liability, protect or defend ACMP's rights, property, or interests, or protect the safety, rights, or property of ACMP's Users.

Cookies also make Web-surfing easier by automatically performing certain functions such as saving your personal preferences and by ensuring that you don't see the same advertisement repeatedly. Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard. Consequently, your Web browser is likely set to accept cookies. If you would prefer not to receive cookies, however, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse or delete cookies. If you choose to have your browser refuse or delete cookies, you should understand that it is possible that some areas of the ACMP website will not function properly when you view them.
ACMP, along with third party service providers working on its behalf, may also use technologies such as pixel tags and web beacons to track your use of its ACMP website. Pixel tags and web beacons are tiny graphic images that ACMP may place on certain portions of its ACMP website or in its related email that generate a non-personally identifiable notice when a User performs a specific action. ACMP may also use pixel tags to measure visitor traffic, visitor behavior on the ACMP website, its promotions, and its performance. Pixel tags and web beacons may also be provided by ACMP's affiliates, charters, and/or marketing partners, and ACMP may use them for the same purposes.
What About External or Third Party Web Sites?
To the extent hyperlinks or gateways (whether through banner advertisements or otherwise) are utilized to access external or third party sites, you should be aware that these external or third party sites may collect PII and are not controlled by ACMP and therefore, are not subject to this Privacy Policy. ACMP suggests that you check the privacy policies of these sites to determine how the proprietors of these third party sites will collect or utilize your PII.
What About Security?
As is appropriate for the nature of PII collected and stored by ACMP, the ACMP Website has industry standard security measures or safeguards in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under ACMP's control. Although ACMP has endeavored to create a secure and reliable ACMP website, however, the confidentiality of any communication or data cannot be guaranteed. Accordingly, you should consider carefully if you want to submit sensitive information to ACMP. ACMP urges you to take every precaution to protect your PII when on-line.
What About “Opting-Out” of Data Collection and Use?
For certain PII collection, you can decide on your own if you wish to provide your PII to ACMP (when requested) or opt-out of doing so. For example, if ACMP conducts a survey, you do not have to participate unless you agree to do so.
What About Correcting, Deleting, or Updating Information?
ACMP will retain your PII for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for which it was collected and to comply with applicable laws. At any time, you may contact ACMP to correct, modify, or delete the information you provide to ACMP through the ACMP website. ACMP may require you to confirm you identity with respect to any request. Please note, however, that the collection and uses of certain PII is necessary to provide certain information and services through the ACMP website and the deletion of such necessary information, e.g., an e-mail address, may render a particular service or ACMP's ability to provide it inoperable. California Residents: Companies that collect PII from California residents and disclose such information to third parties (including affiliated entities) for marketing purposes must, in response to a request by a consumer, either (1) provide a list detailing the categories of information shared and the entities to which such information was provided, or (2) provide a mechanism by which a consumer may opt-out of having his or her information shared with third parties. ACMP has elected the second option, and you may request that your PII not be shared with third parties by sending your request, including your full name, email address and postal address, to admin@acmp.info. California residents are also entitled to know that they may file grievances and complaints with California Department of Consumer Affairs, 400 R Street, Suite 1080, Sacramento, CA 95814; or by phone at 916-445-1254 or 800-952-5210; or by email to dca@dca.ca.gov.
