What is the structure and membership of the Board?
The Interim Board is comprised of change practitioners who either have experience working on a wide variety of corporate and government projects, or in conducting change management research. At present, one of the eight Board members works in South Africa. One of the considerations for the first (and subsequent) elected Boards is to ensure continued international representation.
Is there a relationship between ACMP and other professional organizations?
ACMP has been created to advance the discipline of change management with, and on behalf of, its members in order to improve global business results. To that end, ACMP is open to strategic alliances and partnerships with other professional organizations that share the same vision. There is no intent to compete with other organizations, but rather to complement their offerings with ours to improve the effectiveness of managing the people side of change. In doing so, ACMP will not promote any particular methodology or approach to change management. ACMP will leverage best practices wherever they exist, in the pursuit of creating a complete and credible change management body of knowledge. The organization will, in the spirit of inclusion and collaboration with all stakeholders, seek input from a wide array of sources to develop a consistent standard upon which a change management certification process will be based.
What is the relationship between global and regional chapters?
ACMP has one of its volunteer teams working to fully define this, with initial recommendations expected in December 2011. We are assuming that we will adopt a model similar to other professional organizations, which will include a global entity, along with regional chapters. The intent is to have the global entity be the steward of a globally recognized standard, administrator of certification, and convener of the annual Global Conference, while local entities are empowered to implement networking and professional development activities and drive ongoing collaboration across the community.
Can you clarify the individual founding member fee structure?
The ACMP Board considered a wide range of membership options for both corporate and individual members, but decided to settle on a single “Individual Founding Member” for ACMP’s first year at $174.
What are ACMP’s plans for global and regional membership plans?
The current thinking is to establish both a global structure (which was officially established once we became incorporated in February 2011), followed by a Regional Chapter structure. The Board approved the creation of a special project committee, specifically dedicated to crafting the regional chapter structure. One of the items under consideration is what fee structure to put in place to accommodate regional chapter activities.
What is ACMP’s vision and timeline for ACMP certification?
ACMP standards and associated certification will be based on a ‘wide net’ of best practices, which currently exist in multiple forms, through the work of multiple organizations and thought leaders across the globe. ACMP does not plan to adopt or compete with any one approach, but instead will work in a collaborative fashion with subject matter experts to gain agreement on fundamental and unique change management practices within a broad body of knowledge. The Board has approved creation of a project committee, to be comprised of a cross section of global practitioners, to establish ACMP standards and the pathway to ACMP certification. The Certification and Standards Committee is working diligently to ensure that the ACMP credentialing program has global credibility and value to both employers and the community of change management practitioners. With this in mind, it is difficult to project exactly when a certification program will be available, but we expect much progress to occur in late 2011 and 2012.
How does ACMP certification compare to other certification programs?
The ACMP Board recognized early on that the creation of our certification program should leverage the experiences of other professional organizations. Moreover, the Board is considering using other organizations, which can help guide ACMP to create a statistically ‘valid and reliable’ certification that our members, and the organizations we serve, can point to as world class.
Are there plans for formal training and possible training providers?
The completion of formal training in change management is likely to be a required component of the ACMP certification program. ACMP may establish, through a review and validation process, a Board ‘approved list’ of change management training and education providers from around the world
What is the process for becoming a volunteer?
The strength of any member-driven organization can be directly tied to the number and
variety of its volunteers. To date, the response to volunteer requests has been strong, with over 100 volunteers expressing interest from the request made during the ‘call for volunteers’ during the April 5th webinar. E-mail volunteer@acmp.info to express your interest.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
There are multiple opportunities to be involved as an ACMP volunteer.
